[tex-live] TLU update fails (non-corporate MacOS machine)

This is the “firewalledl” machine that’s screwed up the most. It has been re-imaged (so whatever config was done, is mostly lost), and a new copy of TL was downloaded & installed (so instead of TL 2016 and 2017, it now has only TL 2018).

This afternoon I re-installed TL 2018. Results seem to be the same, maybe a touch better.

Yeah, I suspect a lot of things on this machine are hosed. The question is how to straighten this up… :-(
