Thanks Reinhard. pdfsizeopt reduces the size of Sverre's
file to 47702. He had been concerned that pdflatex alone
produced 291773 bytes, whereas an older version of the
alegreya package produced 162932, presumably because the
pfbs were smaller.

Is there some reason why the effect of ps2pdf (converting
embedded fonts to CFF) hasn't been incorporated into
pdf[la]tex?
