[tex-live] texlive setup problems

How? For all shells (subshells or only the current one)?

You don't have any fmtutil.cnf file, that sounds very strange.

And indeed, you have no formats.

How did you install texlive? Is everything there.

My guess is again that your PATH is not correctly set up for *all*
shells, including new ones.
