Hi David
to TeXLive list: sorry for bringing this somewhat off-topic thing,
on top of initial one which was simply that for whatever reason
my TeXLive update this morning did not bring me the latexbug
to wrap it up, turns out my issue is not caused by fontspec indeed
but it was extremely natural for me to use fontspec in the test file
for its \setmainfont, and it is related to the synchronized switch
to TU encoding by default in fontspec and in the latex formats
for the Unicode engines. Hence the somewhat strange feeling
I got when seeing latexbug complain about fontspec.
But I do understand the underlying logic and that fontspec
is handled outside and that generally speaking issues with
it should be reported on its github tracker.
going back to TeXLive issue
I had launched tlmgr info latexbug a while ago but it
hanged for a very long time while
I was exchanging messages on github latexbug's page, now
I see this output
$ tlmgr info latexbug
tlmgr: package repository http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/mirrors/ctan/systems/texlive/tlnet (verified)
tlmgr: cannot find package latexbug, searching for other matches:
Packages containing `latexbug' in their title/description:

Jean-François
