Not sure which support files you mean but I think you can be assured
that any files, either from the luatex team or elsewhere such as the
luaotfload files or the luatex support for latex will either work for
a range of luatex releases
(the usual case) or be held in the same branch as luatex 1.0 and hit
texlive and miktex only when the binaries update.
