 Sounds to me like a good idea.

 As long as we don't get submerged, all of a sudden, by hundreds
 of requests ...   ;-)

 Just considering the matter for regular uploads and adding
 _once_  a "Note to the CTAN maintainers" with the information
 to be added to the package description would be perfect.
