[tex-live] texinfo not happy with texlive not producing log?

Dear Nelson,
thank you for the info.  This clearly confirms that my Gentoo system
is not up-to-date.  On all other machines I'm using CentOS, Debian,
and Ubuntu and update regularly.  But updating Gentoo takes much more
time than I have ATM.
