[tex-live] [pretest] pdfcrop crashes when called from certain directory

What happens if you remove everything beside the s-params.tex/pdf?

(I tried to reproduced your setup on my maching and see nothing
problematic

D:\user\coupling-structure-letter\figures>pdfcrop  s-params.pdf

compiles without problems in texlive 2016.
