Norbert considered a file system problem (bad sectors).  Did you
remove the files from

  d:\user\coupling-structure-letter\figures

before?  In this case the (potentially) bad sectors will be used
again.

However, I wouldn't exclude a problem related to file permissions.  Is
there anything different related to this directory?
