Hi again Norbert,

Well, I took some random file checks and it seems that they all are
executables, not symlinks:

epsffit: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (FreeBSD),
dynamically linked, interpreter /libexec/ld-elf.so.1, for FreeBSD 9.3, stripped

kpsestat: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (FreeBSD),
dynamically linked, interpreter /libexec/ld-elf.so.1, for FreeBSD 9.3, stripped

So I hava some work to do. I must also check how it is on the
workstation. Binaries or symlinks? I suspect the same as on the laptop.

But I am sorry , I do not have the time to do this before at least
October 12. I will mail the outcome to you when it is done.

The big mystery is from where all these binaries come? Instead of
symlinks?

Thanks,

See you later,

All the best,

Conny
