[tex-live] mktextmf crashes on windows during tfm creation

I was trying out an example for cyrillic and during this mktexmf.exe
crashed. I could reproduce it with TL 14 and TL 15 (pretest).

\usepackage[T2A]{fontenc}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage[russian]{babel}

\begin{document}
\Huge %must be a "new" size
Текст на русском языке
\end{document}

When running this mktextfm is called which then calls mktexmf:

kpathsea: Running mktextfm larm2488

The command name is D:\texlive\2015\bin\win32\mktextfm

kpathsea: Running mktexmf larm2488.mf

The command name is D:\texlive\2015\bin\win32\mktexmf
name = larm2488, rootname = larm, pointsize = 2488
mktexmf:
C:/Users/****/.texlive2015/texmf-var/fonts/source/lh/lh-t2a/larm248
8.mf: successfully generated.

and then the windows dialog "mktexmf.exe funktioniert nicht mehr"
appears. 

Despite the crash the tfm is created successfully and the next
compilation runs smoothly (so every test has to use either a "new"
size, or one has to delete the tfm first).
