Yes, I look for the 3rd line (or, more specifically, a line starting with
"TeX Live"); note that I use tlmgr --version instead of looking directly
at the file.

I installed the 2015024 MacTeX package on my system at work, but
apparently never found time to run TLU, unfortunately. Sorry about that.

I can read tlpdb, but this version-checking code predates it. That would
be an easy switch to make, I think, and I'd be happy to get away from
parsing tlmgr --version output!
