I do not know ancient Russian but in nowadays Russian it should be июня. It
is genitive, it corresponds to "of June", июнь is nominative. я implies
soft pronunciation of д, т, н (similarly as е, и, ю, ё), therefore ь is not
written. If I want to say "today is 1 of June", it will be "сегодня первое
июня". If I wanted to say "I did it 1 of June", it would be "я это сделал
первого июня". But if I wanted to say "it is now month June", it would be
"сейчас месяц июнь".
