Because the *cmd* interpreter is stupid. The names are valid.

Don't blame *us* for stupidity of windows!

forward slashes are valid separators in most programmin gAPIs in Windows.
Only cmd.exe does not understand them.

Use PowerShell, IAFAIR it is more intelligent.
