[tex-live] Where is the root dir of my Tex Live installation

Cannot say much about the tl error, but it is not a good idea to add the path change to bashrc. If, when installed, you start to via a menu, then the shell to uses to call latex will not involve bash, and thus your path addition is ineffective. If your system is valid debian/Ubuntu derivative, then make your path change in /etc/environment instead (remember to back up that file). log out for the change to be effective).

Btw where does it say that you should add the path change to bashrc?

Hi,

I have now deinstalled all tex-components I could find.
The basic installation using the package manager.

After the computer was "clean" I installed TEX Live from the dvd (iso file).
After that I changed the path in .bashrc .

Then I installed Texmaker, first from Ubuntu Package Manager, but that
failed at the end. After deinstallation I tryed the installation from
downloaded .deb package
(http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/download.html#linux).

These errors appeared also after restart and new installation:

(Reading database ... 95% (Reading database ... 100% (Reading database
... 374801 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking texmaker (from .../texmaker_ubuntu_12.04_4.1_amd64.deb) ...

Errors were encountered while processing:
  /home/pechoc/Downloads/texmaker_ubuntu_12.04_4.1_amd64.deb

Does anyone know what I have to do?
Any help is welcome...
Gerald
