[tex-live] dvipdfmx: pk vs. pfb

Finally found a directory 

$HOME/texmf/fonts/map/dvipdfmx/updmap

that contained an old pdftex.map; don't know why. When the file was
removed, updmap didn't re-create it and all was well.

Updmap now does a pretty good job of documenting what it's doing.
There's should be a happy medium between minimal output from
dvipdfmx and everything-output using strace or -vv. dvipdfmx -v
tells me that a pdftex.map was used but not where it is!
