however, on ftp.oleane.net as well as on the core ctan sites (e.g.,
cam.ctan.org) the texlive packages are shown by

  ftp ftp.oleane.net
  Connected to ftp.oleane.net (194.2.0.36).
  220 ProFTPD Server (ProFTPD) [ftp.oleane.net]
331 Anonymous login ok, send your complete email address as your password
230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply
  Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
  ftp> cd /pub/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet/archive
  250 CWD command successful
  ftp> dir mathdesign*
  227 Entering Passive Mode (194,2,0,36,84,188).
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for file list
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 1690748 Oct 3 2011 mathdesign.doc.tar.xz
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 ftp ftp 1281980 Oct 3 2011 mathdesign.tar.xz

when karl is back working on this, there's more than just packaging to
do: tex live does not support fonts that are only commercially
available, and the new mathdesign has added support for >=2 commercial
fonts, so karl will have to determine how he deals with this situation.
