For TeX Live 2011 you need to get binaries separately from
    http://www.tug.org/texlive/files/armel-linux-tl11/

For TeX Live 2012 it will be included in distribution. I tested the
binaries with official debian image inside qemu and they seemed to
work, even though they were compiled on a different machine.

You might get RPI early enough to be able to test and report potential
problems before TL 2012 release.
