Try to find xindy executables (xindy.run & xindy.mem) from TL 2010.
Replace the TL 2011 files with the 2010 files. It should work.
The problem seems to be CLISP 2.49. It didn't work on MacOS X
either, and caused other problems on Debian as well. Going back to
an earlier CLISP version solved the problem. I haven't been able to
reproduce the crashes, though, as I have neither NetBSD nor a Mac.
But not all is lost. ;-) Christoph Badura, one of the NetBSD
developers, is a good friend of mine. He'll visit me next week;
I'll see if we'll find the time to reproduce and investigate the
issue together.
HTH,
Joachim
