Hmmm...

Try pdfopen -viewer ar9-tab some.pdf

and see if that works for you.
(The ar9-tab viewer omits the -openInNewWindow option.)


Of course, your simple wrapper script could just remove the
-openInNewWindow argument before calling acroread.

P.S. Yes, there should be a -h and/or --help option.  Maybe even a man
page.  I'll complain bitterly to the right person the next time he has
a few spare minutes.
