Apparently "ptex" does not support e-TeX, therefore the syntax
with the starting star is not recognized and "ptex" looks for
"*platex.ini" instead of "platex.ini".
I don't know, where the star comes from. In the
updated fmtutil.cnf of TL I don't see it (perhaps its alaready
fixed):
| # from ptex:
| ptex ptex - ptex.ini
| platex ptex language.ptx platex.ini
Or do you use a different fmtutil.cnf from somewhere else?
