[tex-live] switched from openSUSE 11.3 (texlive 2009) to 11.4 (texlive 2010): strange things happened

Essence:

Using 'pdfopt' on pdflatex created PDF-1.5 creates a 'corrupt xref table', which crashes older versions of acrobat products. Version 1.4 works. Doing 
the same thing with openSUSE 11.3 (texlive 2009) always works, invariant of the pdf version used/forced to use.
