I'll forward your message to him.
Perhaps it's a netbsd version issue.

    Some libraries used by xindy are from pkgsrc:

clisp requires those libraries, so the fact that xindy uses clisp
induces them.  Static linking induces other problems.  There is no good
way around it with the current implementation as far as I can see.
