The problem could also be your anti-virus software not being able to keep up,
or other software (malware or peer-to-peer) that is creating many network
connections.

Please check the Windows event viewer and av scanner logs.   You can run
"netstat -n -o" in a command window to check if any programs are generating
large numbers of network connections.
