Not in the message to which I was replying.

Nor am I suggesting that you should.  At any one time,
you are trying to update only one file.  That is the
only file that needs to be checked to see if it is
open.

I trust in God; everyone else pays cash.  Or to put it another
way, I prefer to work /with/ you, Tomek, Akira, Karl et al to
try to find the best solution rather than trusting you to do so
and then complaining afterwards that you failed.
