Which revision of the installer was used? There was a bug fix related
to this (rev. 16316 from 2009/12/06). When installing as a nornal
users, the system wide associations (in HKLM hive) were not respected.
Did you try Manuel's advice (tlmgr postinstall remove fileassoc
tlpsv.win32)? This should help in this case.

I don't see any arch type packages in the gui, so I suspect Nortbert
filters them to reduce the clutter (in which case tlpsv.win32 would be
hidden since there is no corresponding tlpsv package). Norbert, am I
right?

They may be still there in the the HKLM registry hive, but simply
overridden by the ones in HKCU (if you installed Acrobat as admin and
TL as non-admin).

It shouldn't and if it does, then we have a bug, but please check with
the current installer before making conclusions.
