You don't mention the platform you are using.   Your example "works for me" on
x86_64-linux, and the log you posted doesn't really provide much to go on.

Glitches like this are to be expected from  pretest, so often the best
thing is to
wait a couple days and see if the test still fails.  It would also be
of interest to
know if other metafont fonts are failing.   Is there a "missfont.log"
file?  This
should contain the mktexpk command(s) that failed.  Run the command
manually to see if it gives some more information.   To do a more comprehensive
check for font problems, see if you can format the comprehensive latex symbols
list ("texdoc symbols").
