This discussion is clearly appropriate for this list. Anyone is free to follow it or not, to reply or not, and of course to heed any suggestion or not.
As much as it may bother you, there is nothing inherently wrong with this: User makes a suggestion. Some choose to reply. User chooses to answer to some replies. Some choose to further reply to user's replies, and so on. It boils down to adults choosing how to invest their time concerning a discussion that is clearly relevant.
Neither you nor anyone else has been forced to read anything (other than the subject line) or reply to anything or much less do anything. Those who have participated have done so on their own free will.

Exactly. That would be the civil way to proceed given your belief...Except you should have done it *before* the message I am replying to.
On the other hand, others may choose to continue to participate... (and you may choose to ignore their participation).
