    Hello, I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I think
    there is a chance that someone knows the answer ;-)

I do not know the answer, but the people to ask are Eddie Kohler (author
of lcdf-typetools) and/or Akira Kakuto (author of w32tex).  Eddie's not
on this list.  Akira is, but I haven't received mail from him for a
couple weeks now.  (Sure hope he's ok.)

If you have any problems finding their email addresses, let me know.
