Nope:
$ ll /usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 310376 Apr 12 20:00 /usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xz.universal-darwin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 161820 Apr 12 20:00 /usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xzdec.universal-darwin
$ /usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xz.universal-darwin
/usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xz.universal-darwin: Compressed data not written to a terminal unless `--force' is used.
/usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xz.universal-darwin: Try `/usr/local/texlive/2009/tlpkg/installer/xz/xz.universal-darwin --help' for more information.
So it's executable, and spits out an error when trying to run it with no input.
Some packages are now available for update, so I ran (from TLU)
/usr/texbin/tlmgr --repository http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet --machine-readable --persistent-downloads update biblatex-philosophy
and had no problems. I'll move aside this install and see if a clean one
from my local repo has problems.
thanks,
Adam
