Yes - it should be this way as you install gnuplot as a root and it
installs also in TL tree. Asymptote does the same for sure and I guess
any s/w which installs LaTeX packages.
I suspect that any non-TL s/w which in the process of "(sudo) make
install" installs LaTeX packages
