[tex-live] tlmgr 2009 problems on Solaris 10

It started a few days ago: I ran tlmgr update --self in preparation for
an update and since then I get:

~> tlmgr update --list
Killed
Killed
sh: xzdec: not found
/export/xtp/texlive/bin/tlmgr: Initialization failed (in
setup_unix_one):
  could not find a usable program for xzdec.
Couldn't set up the necessary programs.
Installation of packages is not supported.
Please report to texlive at tug.org.
tlmgr: exiting unsuccessfully (status 1).

I tried to run update-tlmgr-latest.sh but I got:

~> /bin/sh update-tlmgr-latest.sh
