  You're not the only one.

A friend of mine wrote a patch for several ovp2ovf bugs and submitted a bug
report on the Debian bug tracker, over five years ago
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=229184). A couple of months
later, I tracked down a few more bugs and sent a patch to John Plaice for him
to apply upstream. He never did it, nor did Yannis Haralambous, to whom I sent
the same patch one year later. The patch eventually made it to TeX Live in
March last year thanks to another friend of mine, as you can see in the
discussion that he started on
http://tug.org/pipermail/tex-live/2008-March/015503.html (there is a link to a
post with my patch later in the thread).

I would expect that the most basic bugs in ovp2ovf are now fixed in TeX Live
since then, but I might be wrong. As far as I am concerned, I gave up trying
to fix bugs in the Omega fonts utilities eventually. In any case, I can
confirm that at some point ovp2ovf did not work at all on valid OVP files due
to some basic (and silly) parse error.
