Is it wise to mess up with distribution?
Further, as I am not interested to compare different TL versions and
keep at the moment TL2008 only as backup until TL2009 is released,
this is not problem for me. My problem is to remember, if TL installs
a new package, to check if it is in texmf-local or ~/texmf and
eliminate it from there.
Some texmf-inspector which would tell me if I have duplicates, would be handy
