[tex-live] texlive 2008 update --all loses update.cfg, help?

Extremly strange. I can only imagine that some updates for 2009 slipped
through, which would be *REALLY* bad ....

Karl??? Did you freeze *ALL* updates?

Please guys, stop all, *ALL* updating even from CTAN for now.

John, can you send us please the revision numbers (you find them at the
beginning of all the files) of
 .../2008/tlpkg/TeXLive/*.pm
 .../2008/texmf/scripts/texlive/tlmgr.pl
