there's a tl'08 rpm in the current repositories; i imagine it's for the
latest fedora release, but the fedora wizard here tried it (at my
request) and gave up, dazed by a set of twisty little dependencies, all
alike.

the rpm is unlikely to be back-ported to anything as old as fedora 6, i
imagine; it might appear in the next fedora, and become available later
in centos/rhel.

on my "main" workstation, i have a tl07 rpm -- this is fedora 9 (or
even 8), and there's something analogous in suse 11 and whatever the
debian-ubuntu people call their latest thing. my tl07 rpm is pretty
good, but doesn't contain the very latest of anything (and doesn't seem
to have any species of luatex.
