[tex-live] %& first line parsing different jobname

Hiho!

I would like to define the output (*.pdf) filename (pdflatex) inside my
source.tex.

When using the console (debian linux) "pdflatex -jobname mynewfilename
source.tex" works just flawless.

So does it, if you use MikTex and in the first line you type:

"%& -jobname mynewjobname"

But using TexLive, it doesn't work.
What makes me think this is a bug is the fact, that in the *.log file
there is:

"This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6) (format=pdflatex
2009.4.19)  9 JUN 2009 15:49
entering extended mode
 %&-line parsing enabled.
..."

So apparently it *should* work but somehow it does not.

Any ideas how to solve that problem?
