[tex-live] how to update 2009 pretest

I have TexLive 2008 (the MacTeX distribution), and now I'm trying the  
new 2009 pretest. Right now the tlmgr binary is ithe new one, i.e.,  
"type tlmgr" results in

/usr/local/texlive/2009/bin/universal-darwin/tlmgr

Could I upgrade the 2009 pretest just via "tlmgr update --all" without  
affecting my stable TeXLive 2008 installation?
