[tex-live] also had an odd update

I wanted to update texlive today, and duly downloaded the update-tlmgr-r11751.sh (or update-tlmgr-latest.sh, which is identical).
I ran that script and then tlmgr update --all

All seemed to go well until trying to handle tex4ht, where tlmgr starts writing hundreds of lines to the output, and then stopping with a message ending with the following lines

texmf-dist/tex4ht/xtpipes/jsml.4xt texmf-dist/tex4ht/xtpipes/oo-math.4xt texmf-d
ist/tex4ht/xtpipes/oo-text.4xt texmf-dist/tex4ht/xtpipes/xhtml.4xt texmf-dist/te
x4ht/xtpipes/xtpipes-default.4xt texmf-dist/tex4ht/xtpipes/xtpipes-map.dtd texmf
-dist/tex4ht/xtpipes/xtpipes.dtd texmf/scripts/tex4ht/htcopy.pl texmf/scripts/te
x4ht/htmove.pl tlpkg/tlpobj/tex4ht.tlpobj) failed in /mnt/data1/goossens/save/te
xlive/2008, status -0.00390625 at /mnt/data1/goossens/save/texlive/2008/tlpkg/Te
XLive/TLUtils.pm line 455.

I assume it has something to do with Lars' message (of a few days ago, see below).

What I find funny is that tlmgr has been updated by the install script, although it is merely a link in texlive/2008/bin/i386-linux that points to
texlive/2008/texmf/scripts/tlmgr, which carries the date of 25 Dec 2008. Is that as I should be?

What can I do to continue the update of my system? Thanks for any hint. mg
