emerge texlive
will install the whole system. Maybe you didn't install it
completely. If it is too big for you (> 1GB) then you can use the
attatched script in order to install a customized version.
Comment out every package you don't need and run the script.
I suppose that at least texlive-mathextra is not installed.

You can also run emerge -s texlive in order to get a list of texlive
packages but maybe the script is more convenient.
Another alternative is to unmerge texlive and install TeX Live 2008.

It's also modular and customizable, you can install missing packages
later, update packages,... And it's more up to date.
