Sure. kpse.set_program_name allows to use other kpse.* functions later, and
those are used to find essential information such as TL's install path and so
on. So it's really not something we can get rid of in the wrapper.

As you can see, it *should* be totally unrelated to the problem.

Well, this is a clue that the problem is probably to hard for me to
understand. To be honest, this sh*t is getting on my nerves: it should NOT
happen, this doesn't sound rational.
