Shouldn't have been a problem with the previous version: the .. operator
concatenates the strings anyway, and lua is a rather space-insensitive
language.

Oops. But anyway the real code from texdoc correctly escapes
backslashes. So unless I missed something it should lauch exactly the
above line. I can't understand what it works in a one-liner and not with
the full program.

Anyway, I finally got AR9 to install on my windows machine (had to
manuallky get rid of some bogus registry entries before) and I'll be
able to continue testing myself.
