I doubt many users will realize it.  Hopefully they will write to a
netbsd support list instead of tex-live at tug.org.

    providing the needed 30 lzma bundles or the 90 TL binary bundles
    probably doesn't make sense.

That's certainly true.  I had no idea.

In that case, I guess there is no alternative but to fall back to using
lzma from PATH.  I'll see about installing your patch.
