    It might only confuse things if I start checking in Linux binaries
    built on a different configuration.

Right.  I am rather loath to start checking in new binaries at such a
random point as now.

Werner, if you really need them, Jonathan or I or whomever could build
them (once we get configure working again) and get them to you
separately.  Or you could build them yourself ...
