Yeah.  Sorry.  I added your items to http://tug.org/texlive/bugs.html.
Maybe next time you could try a late pretest in advance of the release?
It would help.  Keeping track of which changes are important is always
difficult.

    -- fmtutil doesn't keep .log files by default

I can't remember why we did this, or if it was just an accident.
I took out the rm (at line 699, if you want to too).
