I can't tell, but if this is the case, the contents should identify
the distributor. The remote machine I'm looking at has:

  # cat /etc/lsb_release
  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
  Description:    Ubuntu gutsy (development branch)
  Release:        7.10
  Codename:       gutsy
