[tex-live] babel and hebrew

Hi all!

Disclaimer: I have no idea about Hebrew typesetting!

A user of the Debian TeX Live packages brought to our attention a
problem when using hebrew/babel: The file hebrew.ldf in Babel declares
teh encoding LHE, so loading it searches for lhrcmr.fd, which is also
shipped by babel. But lhecmr.fd declares:
\DeclareFontShape{LHE}{cmr}{m}{n}
      {<-> jerus10 }{}
and the font jerus10 is *NOWHERE* available. I have searched the
internet a bit, the ftp sites mentioned in the CTAN fonts/hebrew/ unix
install document etc etc. The only place I could find it is in Debian's
	ivritex
package (which ships very old hebrew.ldf...). I attach the file I found
there (jerus10.mf).

I have no idea nor suggestion how to proceed with this, but I think
either the hebrew font setup should be changed to available fonts or at
least some documentation included where to get the fonts, or or or???

Thanks a lot for any suggestions

Norbert
