Three cheers. From an aesthetic point of view, the ISO sizes suck.
The 1:\sqrt2 proportions may please the mathematician and logician
but they really are too tall and too narrow for easy reading.

Unfortunately the convenience of being able to fold and fold and fold
and reduce and reduce and reduce has seduced most people into believing
that the ISO sizes are some kind of ideal nirvana.
