I did this with source.development/texmf to get rid of old stuff, but:
$ pwd
/data/norbert/texlive/p4-base/Build/source.development
$ rm -rf texmf
$ p4 sync -f `pwd`/texmf/...
/data/norbert/texlive/p4-base/Build/source.development/texmf/... - file(s) up-to-date.
$  p4 -V

Is my client too old?
