Just FYI, there is no such thing as gwTeX. What I distribute roughly is
	TeX Live (for the bin, lib, include, man directories mainly)
	teTeX (for the main texmf tree)
	Some additional packages that are not part of teTeX's texmf treee 
(=gwTeX)

If I encounter something problematic or I want different, I generally 
do not change something myself (as that gives a lot of maintenance), I 
harass some nice people about it (like Thomas) until it is part of the 
general distribution.

Hence, if TL changes to pdftex only, I will follow automatically.
